Anyone can volunteer to help. Youngsters under the age of 16 must be accompanied at all times by an adult.

If you have your own equipment and wish to be independent then you can start litter picking from home, working your way to Hood Park. Alternatively, if you need to borrow equipment you can do so by joining a small group at one of our 10 starting locations around the town.

In either case we would ask you to register your interest in helping by email, telephone or preferably by using the Eventbrite site. Registration is essential for ease of communication and so that safety and insurance issues are adequately covered.

Prior registration will also help us ensure that all locations are covered whilst none have an excess number of volunteers.

Please note it may be necessary to limit the number of volunteers starting at any one location to avoid overcrowding.

Litter pickers and team leaders

You can register as a litter picker using the Eventbrite link although we also require volunteers who are willing to hand out equipment, safety information and brief details to each small group of litter pickers. Again, interest can be shown using the Eventbrite link. If you select the Eventbrite link and follow the process you should able to register adults and children and indicate their preferred starting point. You are also asked for a n email address. This latter information is then available to the organisers and helps them to know how things are progressing and make contact where necessary.

If you would be willing to donate a cake or biscuits (home-made of purchased) then please call 07591 494727 or email info@ashbysbigtidyup.org.uk to let us know.

Why volunteer?

• It’s enjoyable – you’ll get outside in the fresh air and meet other local people
• Make a difference – you’ll see the effects and want to keep it looking good
• Prevent further littering – it’s a fact that people are less likely to litter in a clean area (and they feel safer)
